One of the biggest problems of fast fashion is the overproduction of clothes and accessories. The ephemerality of trends leads to a decrease in product quality and irresponsible use of the planet's resources..

The brand Ochis, which was founded in Kyiv in 2018 by Maksym Gavrylenko, changes this situation in Ukraine. Ochis are the first eco-friendly glasses made from coffee. Maxim's goal was to create a truly unique, environmentally friendly product that can completely replace fast one-time solutions. This is how the glasses, which are 100% biodegradable and made of the natural oils and processed coffee grounds, collected in Kyiv coffee shops, were created.

Moreover, the production process is also completely environmentally friendly. 15 years of experience with optics and an innovative approach helped the founder to develop a prototype of the world's first coffee glasses, which do not emit CO2 into the atmosphere. Today, each frame goes through 39 stages of manual processing to become the perfect pair of Ochis.

The philosophy of Ochis is naturalness and environmental friendliness. "I started studying human psychology and it made me aware of the problem of global consumption and plastic pollution," says Maxim. "I wanted to find a material that no one needs, but in re-production would received a new value."

The brand team sees positive changes in the world and in turn contributes to the development of the latest environmental technologies, using secondary raw materials of plant origin, thus developing circular design in Ukraine, which is the future of the industry.

Global brands have been trying for many years to solve the problem of unethical chain of production, supply and disposal. That is why now in the fashion industry there is a transformation of linear business models into circular ones, which provide for the production of products without the use of primary raw materials in the most environmentally friendly and ethical ways.

Today, the Ochis team is working on developing and improving both production processes and new glasses models. The brand professes the idea of sustainable business, conscious consumption and the rejection of fast fashion, emphasizing that one pair of eco-glasses is better than a large number of cheap plastic models.
