Ukrainian Fashion Week with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation launches a special Project - Action: Sustainable Fashion
Over the past few years, conscious fashion and responsible consumption have become mainstream. We can observe how small brands and giant companies are moving confidently through an ethical approach to the planet and to sustainable business.
On the other hand, modern consumers still do not have a clear idea of what sustainable fashion is. Can a brand be 100% environmentally neutral? Of course not. However, designers and manufacturers can positively influence the transformation of industry and consumer habits through examples of their own philosophy of sustainability.
Sustainable fashion development includes many aspects. It is an endless story that encompasses the economical, social, environmental, ethical, and cultural foundations of our present life.
"Sustainable fashion is design." Through this slogan, we want to tell the first story of the brand-ambassador of the KSENIASCHNAIDER project and learn to accept challenges as opportunities.
The KSENIASCHNAIDER brand was created in 2011 by Ksenia and Anton Schnaider. The concept of the brand was a combination of ideas of casual and avant-garde clothing from recycled and organic materials.
World recognition came to KSENIASCHNAIDER in 2016 with the creation of an original model of demi-denims jeans, which consist of semi-shorts and semi-pans.
In 2019, KSENIASCHNAIDER presented another revolutionary idea with pants of different widths. Asymmetrical jeans instantly blew up the Internet, and Celine Dion complemented her image for Paris Fashion Week.
Clothes of the KSENIASCHNAIDER brand are chosen by worldwide influencers of the fashion world - Bela Hadid, Dua Lipa, Eva Chen, Tommy Cash.
"First of all, we think about design. If we do a beautiful thing, it will promote the idea of sustainable fashion much more effectively than just saying that we are saving the planet," - Anton Schnaider.
The uniqueness of the KSENIASCHNAIDER path is a combination of bold design and sophisticated technology. The brand specializes in creating and improving the processing of materials. In one month, the brand's team processes about 500 pairs of used jeans, which weigh 5 tons per year.
In cooperation with the largest Ukrainian knitwear manufacturer RITO, the designers have developed a special line of knitwear made of multicolored blocks.
Designers also developed a way to turn textile waste into denim fur, and later began working with pieces of fabric from which patchwork products are made. During the season KSENIASCHNAIDER processes up to 200 kg of textile waste. Approximately 3,000 recycled products are produced per year, which is about 35% of each of the collections.
When the company's production volumes increased, the brand decided to cooperate with the ISKO factory (Turkey). It is the only producer of organic denim in the world, which is sustainable at all stages of production.
The key idea for Ksenia and Anton is environmental friendliness, so all the efforts of the brand are aimed at conscious consumption, as well as the reasonable disposal of all waste.
Today, the brand is sold in 16 countries around the world, as well as in major global online retailers YOOX, Farfetch and Shopbop. In 2018, KSENIASCHNAIDER participated in Vogue Italia's The Next Green Talents 2019. In 2018 and 2019, the brand received the "Sustainable fashion" award from the Ukrainian professional award in the field of fashion Best Fashion Awards.
